Minimum Donation €29.50

English edition. Excerpt from the Introdiction: The family name Doria Pamphilj Landi, derives from two marriages that took place in the seventeenth century. The first between Giovanni Andrea Il Doria (1607-40) and Maria Polissena Landi (1608-79), Princess of Valditaro and the last representative of a line related to the Swabian emperors; the second between Giovanni Andrea III Doria Landi (1653-1737) and Anna Pamphilj (1652-1728), belonging to the family of Pope Innocent X (1574-1655). Both Giovanni Andrea II and Giovanni Andrea III descended from the Genoa branch of the Doria family made famous by Andrea I Doria (1466-1560), who, known as the “Liberator of the Fatherland” for having freed Genoa from the yoke of the foreigner, was Admiral of the Fleet of Emperor Charles V and the first Prince of Melfi.
