Frequently Asked Questions

Customising your browsing experience

Please note that items are automatically sorted in a ‘random’ order on the website. This is the default setting.
However, there is also an option to change how they are sorted to one of the following by clicking the ‘Random’ popup located at the top left of the product images:

“Sort by Popularity”,
“Sort by Latest”,
“Sort by price: Low to High”, “Sort by price: High to Low”

What kind of items are available?

We concentrate on sourcing items that are unusual and perhaps not always readily available in Malta. Every item available from this site is brand new, apart from some gorgeous, quirky and interesting pieces in our Collectors’ Corner

What the customer pays is essentially a donation that goes straight to charitable causes. No commissions, no skimming off the top – we guarantee that it all goes to charity

Unless specified, the items are new and unused

Where do your products come from?

The items on our site come from all around the world, from companies and individuals

Can I help?

Yes please!

However, in order to maintain the high standard we have set ourselves, any items which have kindly been donated must be brand new, vintage or antique and in top-notch condition

Please contact us at [email protected]

How does We Are Not A Shop set a value for its items?

Valuations are as provided by the manufacturer or donor. Vintage and antique books and other items are appraised and valued by accredited booksellers and antique dealers

Purchasing, Refunds and Delivery

Can I view items before purchasing?

You are welcome to visit our office and view items in person. Since the majority of our stock is stored offsite we require a minimum of 24 hours notice to prepare the items. Please email us on  [email protected]
or call +356 2722 9169 to make an appointment. Our office is located at 18, Carmelite Street, St Julian’s STJ 1022, Malta (behind Balluta Buildings)

Can I collect my purchases or have them delivered?

Should you wish to collect a pre-paid order or make your own delivery arrangements, please contact us. Unpaid orders to be collected will be reserved for 24 hours

Do you offer free deliveries?

Deliveries to Malta and Gozo over the value of €25 are free.
Deliveries for orders under €25 incur a charge of €4.00 per order within Malta and €5 to Gozo.
Once you have placed your order and payment has been settled, our volunteer who handles deliveries will be in contact to arrange a mutually convenient time and day for delivery.

Do you offer International shipping?

We offer shipping to all international destinations that are served by Maltapost. Since shipping costs are changing frequently due to the current global issues we are unable to offer shipping directly from our site. So please e-mail [email protected] and we will revert with any relevant shipping and insurance costs.

Do you offer a gift wrapping service?

We will soon be introducing our Gift Wrapping Service. Full details to follow, but if you would like further information now, please contact us

How do we complete our order?

As we really are not a shop and all proceeds go to the charities we support, “payment” is via the minimum donation noted. When you make a “donation” to We are Not a Shop, we will send you an e-mail confirming receipt

Our online payment system is still in progress. However in the meantime we can accept Revolut, bank transfers, credit cards and cheques

What’s your refund/return policy?

We accept returns if the items are in the same condition as when they were purchased together with a copy of your order and delivery receipt

We regret that are unable to provide refunds as all monies will have been paid directly into the charitable account. However we would be happy to exchange for another item of equal value

What are your opening hours?

We are open from Monday to Friday from 09.30 to 15.00

As we are only a small team, we regret that we are unable to process orders over the weekend or on public holidays
