‘When the last census was taken in France, the Empress Eugenie happned to be staying at the Villa Cyrnos, and she filled in the form in her own handwriting as follows: “Comtesse de Pierrefond (Marie Eugenie). Age 64. Born at Granada, Spain; naturalised French. A widow. Has had one child; a son.
