FIRST EDITION, SIGNED: The Sins of Society: Words Spoken By Father Bernard Vaughan of the Society of Jesus in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Mayfair During the Season 1906

Minimum Donation €360.00

Father Bernard Vaughan, SJ (1847–1922) was an English Catholic priest, brother of Bishops Herbert, Roger and John Stephen Vaughan. His brother Harbert later became Cardinal Archbishop of Westminster, after whom Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School in Holland Park, London was dedicated. To you my brothers and sisters who, righteous like the pharasee, riotous like the prodigal, covetous like Dives, voluptuous like the Tetrarch, frivolous like Salome, senuous like the Magdalen, or vicious like Herodias, are wearying yourselves in the ways of iniquity, seeking for peace where no peace is to be found, and for rest where there is no rest, these words are spoken by one who knows that the human heart is restless till it rests in Him who is still crying out to the world. “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest”
