Vintage Nineteen Piece Porcelain Part Tea Set: Japanese Rising Sun Theme – Circa 1893 – 1923

Dainty vintage part tea set, consisting of 5 teacups, 6 saucers, 6 cake plates, 1 serving plate, 1 sugar bowl. The cake plates have an original squared design and all the pieces feature an orange rising sun with its rays reflected in a lake, black trees with orange and white flowers on the bank. The mark ‘FOREIGN’ occurs in black and red on the reverse. Porcelain intended for the United Kingdom market used ‘Foreign’ instead of ‘Made in Japan’, and statistically, those from mid 19th century or later are mostly marked in red.
