Vintage Miniature Egyptian Replica Canopic Jar – Circa 1974

Canopic jars with removable lid were used by Ancient Egyptians to store the organs of the deceased. Each organ was protected by one of the four sons of Horus. ‘Duamutef’, the jackal headed son of Horus, protected the stomach of the deceased. His name means “he who worships his mother”. Made from stone with hieroglyphics carving detail. Slight damage to nose, see images H:12.5 x D:5cm
