Vintage Egyptian Mashrabeya/Mashrabija Panels

Vintage and eye – catching five piece, hand carved mashrabeya panels, framed to form a striking wall display, but could be imaginatively designed into a single piece coffee table, window shutter etc. Originally, these panels either formed part of window screens or featured as part of an internal balcony screen, behind which the ladies of the household could see, without being seen. They not only provided privacy, but also helped to regulate light, temperature, humidity, and airflow.Some small damage to the wooden pieces – see images. Date unknown. Central panel H:56 x W:56.
