Description

Bound in red leather with gilt edges and gilt titling to front board and spine. This book was made with quality in mind, and is also a rare special edition, bound specifically for Moorhurst school, whose coat of arms appear in gold on the front board. This particular book has an interesting history, having been presented as a prize for Painoforte Playing at Moorhurst school. The prize label on the inside front cover is undated, but looking at this history of the school, it is estimated to be prior to 1891 as Ellen Dunkerly, one of the principals of the school noted on the label, left that year. A printout with details and a short history of the school is included. Front board is bowed. Front and back hinges are cracked. There are also what appear to be a child’s scribbling in pencil on page 2 and 3, and also on page 267, but this is light and in no way affects the books readability. Pages are light and clean, and this is a truly beautiful volume. Once restored it would complement any collection. Hardcover. Published by Frederick Warne – undated but estimated to be around 1880
