It debuted at the Théâtre Lyrique on the Boulevard du Temple in Paris on 19 March 1859, with influential sets designed by Charles-Antoine Cambon and Joseph Thierry, Jean Émile Daran, Édouard Desplechin, and Philippe Chaperon

Bound in rich orange cloth with gilt titling and motifs on front board. No dust jacket. Small quarto (12 x 15 cm). Illustrated with colour plates and black and white illustrations. Top edge gilt, and front edge is uncut. The endpapers have browned with age, otherwise a good copy of this charming book. Undated but estimated to be c. 1910
