His son by Queen Hortense, the Duc de Morny, was openly recognised by Napoleon III as a half-brother, and became a minister in the 2nd Empire; his daughter Emily, by his Scottish wife, married Lord Shelbourne, later Fourth Marquess of Lansdowne, and ancestor fo the present Lansdowne family. Though not great himself, de Flahaut was admired everywhere for his courage and his charm, and was probably more closely connected with the great than any other man of his age. Bound in red cloth with gilt titling to spine. Some tearing to unclipped dustjacket, mainly at the top right, although there is no material missing.
