Stunning! This beautiful piece was produced to mark the bicentenary of Schweppes. 1783 to 1983 and is an enamel and porcelain box /case, created by the craftsmen of Toye, Kenning & Spence, and produced exclusively for Schweppes. Numbered 144 / 1000 on the base. The design, entitled ‘Lapis Lazuli’, is reproduced from an original by W.H. Barribal 1919 and is one of a series of beautiful ladies painted by Barribal for Schweppes’ advertisements and show cards. They were described in their day as ‘brilliantly modern in technique and appeal’. The box / case is created in the traditional 18th Century manner – .enamelled on copper, and decorated by the application of an outline decal which has been entirely hand painted in coloured enamels. Complete with original box and certificate, the blue lining matches the blue enamel of the lady’s clothes and hat. Trinket / Pill Case H:3.5 x D:5.5cm. Box L:9.5 x W:4.5cm
