RARE: A Tour Through Sicily and Malta In 2 Volumes. P. Brydone – 1774

Minimum Donation €194.00

A Tour Through Sicily and Malta in a Series of Letters to William Beckford Esq from P. Brydone FRS. This work detailing travels through Sicily and Malta is scarce. The letters were written in the 1770s by Scottish traveler Patrick Brydone and Mr. Beckford of Somerly. These books offer charming and evocative accounts of a region that was, at that time, untravelled by outsiders. An accompanying message from Edward Abela to us from Canada reads ‘Well done with the fund raising.’

Description

Scarce 3rd Edition. Leather bound. These books are in poor condition and are great and worthy candidates for rebinding. The covers have extensive wear. Volume I front board is missing. Volume II front board is detached. The boards show extensive wear along hinges and corners. Spines of both volumes have split down the middle and as a result the two parts of each book are detached from each other. However, the text block is in great shape; pages are crisp and clean and tightly bound. Some occasional foxing. Hardcover. Published by W. Strahan; and T. Cadell, The Strand, London 1774.
