Description
Lawrence is a risk and insurance professional having qualified and worked in the industry for the last four decades. He has also developed a keen interest in art history and research and his writings have been published. Lawrence started practicing art in his thirties but only took it seriously when he joined a University of Malta course in 2006 under the tutorship of Prof. Giuseppe Schembri Bonaci. He also attended art sessions at Harry Alden’s and Anthony Calleja’s studios. His motivation in art is mainly inspired by nature and the world that surrounds us and is sensitive to its preservation or lack of it. His local landscapes and streetscapes in a hard-edge style are recognizable by the vibrant colours used in his works. Over the last few years he has also produced a serious of works using prickly pear leaves which he calls BajtARTax-xewk, in response to the deteriorating environment situation in the Maltese Islands. His works include portraits in pop art style, lino-prints and objet-trouvé. Born in 1959, he is married to Georgina and they have four children
