Pre-owned.This book tells the story the life of Charles Lister, mainly through letters. Most date from 1913 onwards, when Lister was employed as a diplomat based in Constantinople then, once war had been declared, as an officer in the Middlesex Yeomanry. Lister went to Gallipoli on the Staff of the Royal Naval Division and was first wounded while serving with the Hood Battalion. In good condition with some deckle edging at the front and bottom edges. Book has two original letters from Charles. No dust jacket. Book has the name ‘Charles Clay’ written in pencil on the top inside front cover. There are also parts of two original letters adressed to a certain ‘Charlie’ pasted into the inside front cover and first page signed ‘Charles Lister’. Hardcover. Published by T Fisher Unwin 1917
