Antique German Silver Powder Compact And Silver Sovereign Purse – Circa 1900s

Unusual Victorian German silver (stamped) chatelaine compact and sovereign purse on long chain. The compact opens with a push button to show the two coin holders, one for a sovereign and the other a half sovereign which are opened by lightly pushing down onto the spring loaded coins. Above is the small powder compact with mirror in the lid. The opposite side of the purse is lined with purple velvet with spring clip – almost certainly to hold notes or messages. The hinge and latch are strong. There are surface markings commensurate with age and the purse has come away slightly on one side, but otherwise in good antique condition and an unusual item.
