Antique French Clear Glass Scent Bottle With Pierced Silver Gilt Ormolu Mount – Circa 1880

A fine and elegant antique lay down French scent bottle dating circa 1880, with wonderful smooth clear glass drop shape body. The neck and shoulders are covered in a sterling silver gilt pierced ormolu mount which extends to about a third of the way down the body. The mount has a wonderful scroll work design of engraved flowers and panels with floral decoration in high relief. The bottle is fitted with a plain silver gilt hinged lid which has repousse flower decoration to the top. The bottle also retains it’s clear glass inner stopper. It is in very good condition, with no chips, cracks or crazing to the glass bottle or stopper and no visible lifting or missing parts to the silver gilt mount. The gilt finish is lightly worn.
