Vintage And Complete Tala Cake Icing Set -1930’s

Minimum Donation €29.50

A lovely practically-Antique (give it another 10 years!) Tala cake icing set from the 1930’s – still in the original branded tin in which the items inside would have been purchased and stored between uses.
Tala are a well-known and longstanding UK based company that have been producing quality, stylish kitchenware and implements for cooking, baking and icing since the early 19th Century. They are a trusted household name for baking in particular and are still in business today.
The set comprises a metal icing syringe. Later versions often have plastic tops and plunger seals but this version is entirely made from metal with a much earlier rubber plunger seal and brass end, for the icing nozzles to screw onto. The syringe is in good overall condition – there is some aging to the metal but the plunger is still a snug fit in the syringe and because the handle is solidly made from metal, it is still in very usable condition. It measures 15½cm/6” in length with the plunger in the down position.
The 9 icing nozzles (originally this set would have been sold with just 6) are all branded original ones beautifully made of nickel with sturdy brass collars to screw into position on the icing syringe. Tala today uses the same original machinery and processes to produce modern nozzles, so these could easily be used with a new Tala icing syringe if preferred. Each nozzle stands around 3cm/ 1¼“ in height and a standard 2cm/ ¾“ diameter fitting. Nozzle numbers included are: 2,4,5,8,10,11,16,31 & 38.
It is so great that the set has been kept and stored with the original storage tin. Although the Tala branded images and text are faded, they can still be made out on all sides and there are no serious knocks or dents to the overall condition of the tin.
The tin measures 15½cm/6⅛” length x 5½cm/2⅛” height x 5cm/2” width
