From the private library of John Tipton and signed by him to the front free end paper ‘JE Tipton 1942’. John Tipton joined 109 Squadron in June 1943 and went on to complete 70 operations with the Squadron, through to 1945. He also completed 34 Operations with 40 Squadron in 1941.2 operating from RAF Wyton and Malta. Newspaper clipping from 2001 loosely enclosed, with an article on Lieutenant-Commander Roger Hill – Hero of Operation Pedestal, who guided a precious cargo of oil into Valletta to relieve the island of Malta

Possibly First Edition 1942. Hard back binding in publisher’s original blue cloth covers, orange title and author lettering to the spine 8vo. 7.5” x 5.25”. Contains frontispiece map, 108 printed pages of text with 16 monochrome photographs on coated paper. Spine badly sun bleached; spotting to the edges and end papers, but otherwise in good condition.
