Per Wikipedia, Evelyn Aldridge was a Midshipman who received the China War Medal in 1900. This book includes a description of the Bonaventure’s visit to Malta between 27th March and 1st April 1898, going into some detail over 3 pages. Author’s name Manery Evelyn was a pseudonym of Evelyn Aldridge

Pre-owned. In good condition. Front board is quite bowed inwards. A little bumping to the back bottom corner. Some tanning and foxing as can be expected with a book of this age. Deckling to edges indicate book may have been hand cut, and some pages still joined at top. 139 pages. Still quite tight and hinges both still in good shape. Frontispiece is of HMS Bonaventure at Shanghai. Original owner’s name in ink at top right of front page, dated 3/9/01 (1901). Hardcover in light blue cloth with red text, no dust jacket. Published by The Cosmopolitan Printing and Publishing Company, Bristol 1901
