Pair of Silver Plated Candlesticks – Venerable Gentleman With Walking Stick And Scroll Standing Under The Tree Of Wisdom – Circa Late 1800s

Minimum Donation €75.00

Short stemmed silver plated Edwardian Candlesticks, stamped with WWH & Co. In addition to being an attractive addition to the dining table they provide a good talking point – exactly what was the man’s profession and what is the story behind them? WWH & Co – William Wheatcroft Harrison & Co – was founded in the late 1850s. W. Harrison died in 1907, leaving the business to his son, who changed the name to WW Harrison Ltd (limited liability). However, the company became insolvent and finally closed in 1913. One candlestick has a missing branch, hence the reduced price H:15 x D:9cm
