Description

Alfred Dunhill set up his first Tobacconist shop in Duke Street St.James, London in 1907. The old tobacco firm of Carreras took over Rothmans, then the Brand name of Dunhill, under which it developed its luxury range of cigarettes ‘Dunhill International’. The boxes were produced in the 1980’s to promote sales, mainly in London where the donor managed all the top (5 star) hotels, gentlemen’s clubs, etc. When Carreras Rothmans was taken over by the American competitor, Philip Morris, Dunhill also came under their wing. The name is, as you will be aware, associated with the luxury goods market and, as such, is owned by Richemont. In the 1990s, Alfred Dunhill’s store on Jermyn Street was renovated to evoke the atmosphere of a private club, complete with a marble-floored humidor and a barber’s shop. Please note that we had to open the outer box in order to take the photograph! L:x W:x H:cm
