Antique Glove Button Hook Plus Boot Button Hook With Shoe Horn. Sold as a pair

Minimum Donation €32.00

Attractive and unusual small bird-shaped button hook, possibly of silver-plated metal, with details etched into the surface. The bird has a lovely face, with the small size of the hook suggesting it was for glove buttons. Folds neatly into the bird’s body with just the end of the hook protruding, to look like the bird’s feet. L: 8.5cm open and 5cm closed, 1cm at widest point. No maker’s marks but dating to the mid to late 19th century and in good working condition. Coupled with this (but not matching), is a 19th century boot button hook which folds down onto the handle to form a shoehorn. L:16cm open x 8cm closed x 3cm at widest point. In good useable condition with minor scuffing and wear to the surface commensurate with age. Marked Patent
