A fine vintage Dr Nelson’s Improved Inhaler, with cork and glass mouth tube, made in England from the early 1900’s, and with the directions for use printed on the front. Despite washing prior to entering onto our site, some staining caused by Friar’s Balsam residue (a tincture used for the relief of respiratory conditions). An interesting piece of English medical history. Between 1861 and 1865, Dr Nelson invented his Improved Inhaler for steam inhalations for respiratory ailments. It was produced by S. Maw & Son in London and was a simple, efficient and affordable device that was used widely. It was particularly useful in the home. This china should not be put in a dishwasher or immersed in water for very long. A collector’s item, it could make an interesting vase. Please note that the glass tube is damaged at the bottom end (see images) H:14 x W:11cm
